I've been playing with some ideas about online news sites for some time now. One day I found myself at New York Observer website, thinking how hard it is for an outsider to get anything out of local news. How about a site that would be targeted to outsiders? It would probably be more entertaining than informative as a daily news site, but would provide an easy to access continuous long-term story for newcomers who would like to learn more about the background of some specific issues or people.  read more »

Have you ever had times when you could have used some extra inspiration and motivation to get you going? How about a website that is solely focused on inspiring the users who would bring the content to the site too. They surf the internet and if they encounter something inspiring they would post a link to the site. Site could also collect videos, articles, books etc with the same theme. Kinda like diggit with a specific focus and some extras. Money? I guess this one would be a mass site with the income coming from advertising and affiliate programs such as amazon has.  read more »

Now the 'ideas' have five main categories: business, culture, design, product / service, and technology.

Product / service: These are ideas about what to provide to the customer.

Technology: These are ideas about how exactly the products and services are built internally.

Business: These are ideas about how to make profitable business out of the products and services. This includes business models, branding, marketing etc.

Design: These are ideas including eg usability and aesthetic issues.

Culture: These are ideas on how to make the other above parts happen. This includes issues like organizational culture, structure, processes, leadership...

I know many of you have blogs on some other sites. At first I thought of users having their own blog here too, but now I think it would make more sense to just import and aggregate the existing blogs here using rss feeds.

So my question is: who of you would like to publish your own blog on this site? Or do you think it would make more sense to have site-specific blogs here too?

What: Interactive tools to facilitate problem solving, eg brainstorming and other methods.

Why: We could facilitate communication with low latency at this site and increase the amount of collaboratively created ideas at this site.

How: We could start out by having simple chat rooms which could be developed further to include some extra functionality for problem solving.

I think we should have a couple of different "content types" on this site. Now we have only one: idea.

The conclusion in many recent discussions that we should have a clear focus with this site. Therefore the site is now stripped down to the most important functionality. There was a plan to integrate wikis, blogs, forums etc. to the site, but they are now left waiting for clear demand from the community.
